If you don’t remove the SD card in the correct manner then it could become corrupt. Certain information/settings might not be saved correctly. We recommend not removing the SD card before shutting off the device.

If the device freezes up and you don’t have a choice, it’s better to remove the SD card and then pull down the main power switch, rather than to doing this in the opposite order. It's better to remove the SD card first because the device might be writing information to the SD card. If you switch off the power in that situation, information might get lost. A more “secure” shut down is made by removing the SD card first.
